Dr Lindsay Martin is both a rural general psychiatrist and dynamic psychotherapist located in the northern beaches of Cairns.
Dr Martin has twenty years psychiatric experience within the public and private psychiatric sectors. She is accustomed to a variety of medical environments including general practice, neurological medicine, and emergency and trauma.
Her experience includes time spent at a hospital and community consultation liasion unit, psychiatric rehabilitation unit, together with early Psychosis, Monash Gender Dysphoria and Refugee clinics. She has a firm capacity to examine and manage patients with complex medical and psychological conditions.
Dr Martin gained her Medical degree with Honours at Monash University in 1996. She went on to commence post graducate physician training, sitting for her GME in 2002; and earned her Masters in Psychological Medicine in 2004. Dr Martin also holds a current ECT licence with extensive ECT experience.
She is a current member of the Australian Federation of Medical Women, the Mental Health Professional Network, NeuroOrthopaedic Group and the Far North Queensland Lady Doctors Association.
Over the years she has developed particular interests in psychotherapy, neuropsychiatry and eating disorders through the lenses of addiction and ADHD. She is currently interested in the concept of PTSD and the role of trauma in the development and maintenance of eating disorders.
Her greatest strengths are her enthusiasm and her keen understanding of her patients. She works very closely with local psychologists and dietitans maintaining a shared-care multidisiplinary model. She has been praised by fellow doctors and medical students for her work and teaching achievements.
