Kyla is a Master Practitioner in evidence-based treatments for sufferers of Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia and OSFED. She also has extensive experience working with clients with weight concerns in a surgical and non-surgical setting.
After training with the The National Centre for Eating Disorders (UK) she founded ACFED and developed a number of training courses for health professionals in Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian Centre for Eating Disorders is part of her vision to create a high quality standard of professional knowledge in the treatment of eating disorders, making it safer for sufferers and their families to access effective support. Kyla is dedicated to building a network of dedicated, qualified health professionals through the Australian Centre for Eating Disorders.
She has forged a partnership with Dr Eric Stice at The Oregon Research Institute to ensure that Australia and New Zealand have access to their groundbreaking eating disorder and obesity prevention programs, the Body Project and Project Health. She has also visited The Maudsley and Springfield University Hospitals in London to learn about their patient treatment methods, and to learn the MANTRA method of treating adults with anorexia nervosa through Kings College, London.
She also has extensive knowledge and experience specifically related to metabolic surgery and is a member of two multidisciplinary clinical teams in addition to working in private practice and is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS).
Kyla was the runner up in the Coffs Coast Woman of the Year 2018, and ACFED won business awards for Excellence in Social Enterprise in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
