A Comprehensive Non-Diet Approach training for Health Professionals

For a long time, we’ve wanted to change the name of our ‘Psychological Approaches to Obesity’ course.

People often object to the word ‘Obesity’, unlike the word ‘Fat’ which is being reclaimed, promoted, and is often used by body positivity activists.

We pondered and rejected quite a few alternatives until we came up with something we are much happier with. So, from now on that course will be called ‘A Comprehensive Non-Diet Approach for Clients with Weight Concerns’.

The course content will remain much the same, as we have never promoted dieting, weight loss or ‘quick fix’ solutions to weight concerns. However, we feel that the course name now better reflects the content.

Our 3-Day course teaches specific skills for working with adults with weight concerns by addressing the practical and psychological factors they may be experiencing.

We take a non-diet approach to this issue and concentrate instead on equipping people with skills and solutions they might need to increase self efficacy and autonomy. Our approach encourages individuals to reject weight and shape goals and to concentrate instead on health behaviour change and body acceptance.
